UV lacquers

Extremely low-VOC paint class

Our UV paints can be hardened with ultraviolet light in fractions of seconds. They can be formulated with solids of up to 100% and therefore represent a extremely low-VOC paint class.

The usual application methods for UV lacquers are rollers, spraying/curtain coating and Vakumat applications. Whilst lacquers with a 100% solids content are usually used for the rolling process and the Vakumat application, solvent-based and watery UV lacquers are primarily used for spray and casting applications.

The most important features of our UV lacquers:

  • Dry in just a few seconds
  • Various application types (rolling, curtain coating, spraying)
  • Light-fastness and resistant to chemicals
  • Low solvent content, low pollution
  • Resistant to impacts and abrasion
  • Broad range for various applications
  • Technological market leader for industrial UV painting

Properties of UV-lacquers

  • The roller application in particular allows a very high level of application efficiency that is almost loss-free. Thanks to the small application quantity, there is an excellent price-performance ratio.
  • Various application types such as rolling, spraying and curtain coating are possible.
  • Low pollution is guaranteed because the lacquers contain none or only very small amounts of solvents.
  • The lacquers are easy to handle.
  • Fast drying in just a few seconds allows short production systems.
  • The surfaces stand out thanks to their light-fast character and their high chemical resistance and outstanding impact and abrasion resistance.

Special aspects of UV lacquers

  • Special UV hardening systems are required (mercury or gallium emitter)
  • The new LED spots are forward-thinking units that offer further optimisation potential.
  • There may be restrictions in the field of opaque pigmented colours.
  • The repair properties are partially restricted.
  • Hydro-UV-lacquers are used in a spray and casting procedure and are emulsions of acrylic or PE or PU resins in water. They are a real low-VOC alternative to conventional solvent lacquers. UV water-based lacquers can achieve high chemical and mechanical resistance that correspond to the solvent-based UV lacquers.
Important: The processing guidelines for each lacquer must be observed strictly. The respective technical code of practice for the lacquer contains information about the application quantities per m2, drying times and temperatures of lacquer and the environment.
